The 23rd Annual Miss International pageant took place on October 11, 1983 at the Festival Hall in Osaka, Japan. Forty One International beauties competed for the crown.

Gidget Sandoval Herrera from Costa Rica was crowned the 23rd Miss International. She is the second beauty delegate from Costa Rica to win the title. Prior to her victory at Miss International, she participated in the Miss Pan-American Teenager pageant, where she was chosen as Miss Elegance.
